The Balde Truth (apparently)
Big Bobo has a pretty hefty mercenary tag that in my book seems unfair
Given he could have moved to three different teams and earn more money in the last 18 months or so when he was being frozen out.
Although story goes for Celtic to have released him from his contract which they were more than willing to do at any point over the pat couple of years - he had to sign a confidentiality agreement. Given the very personal bad treatment he had received (which obviously gave rise to the confidentially agreement being muted by the club) - he basically refused. They were trying to force him into leaving a club/city/contract he was very happy in.
The consequence of it all - is a budget backline of Caldwell and McManus being not only accepted - but a main stay for about 3 years.
I think the main one that leaked out is that he was told to turn up for training, they had moved it elsewhere without telling him, and he was fined for not turning up on time. Almost like they were trying to claw back as much of the £24000 a week in an attempt to make him leave (and save some money in the process). Seems exceptionally unprofessional - especially to a guy who is by all accounts the consummate professional. Think of how hard he worked to play (at times really quite well) at such a level when he clearly wasn’t blessed with great ability. Just because they signed off on a deal for him that they later regretted shouldn’t give them the right to be as unprofessional and by the looks of it - a personal vendetta against an employee. I suspect they regretted doing it after they had started and realised he was going nowhere - but by that point they probably had gone too far so just kept it going
Loovens – he looks better than Caldwell and McManus - Not hard. He is actually looking more dominant and sharper in the past couple of games. Think he would benefit of a run in the team alongside the same partner. Surely he and O'Dea would be worth a shot. O'Dea has well suffered from being held back from first team - I reckon if he had gone into the team 2 years ago - he would be a cracking player now. I actually think Loovens could be quite the player aswell given the right circumstances, however I am still unsure why he was signed (other than a tired one-upmanship against Rangers), as the two centre halves (Caldwell, McManus) were obviously cemented in the team and we had O'Dea waiting in the wings already looking clearly better than the other 2 starters. Unless one or both of O’Dea and loovens were going to be given a serious chance to displace the two Scottish donkeys - it all seemed a bit pointless.
