January Report Card

January 2011 Report Card

Forster – With the exception of when playing Rangers at Celtic Park, he has looked assured and consistently reliable - 8
Zalusca - Blotted his copybook against Utrecht, will be moved on in this window or next - 4

Cha - Steady. Defensively solid and gets forward well, final ball had improved before his Asian Cup absence - 7
Wilson - Getting stronger and more involved by the game - 6
Rogne - Has looked steadier than other centre half options and has worked well as part of the defensive unit, not convinced he is the long term answer for Celtic however - 7
Hooiveld - Talks in the press better than he plays on the pitch. Inconsistent in the games he has played - 4
Loovens - Decent start which completely fell apart as form and confidence drained from him. Won’t get another run of games. - 4
Majstorovic - In the main has looked strong and commanding. A defender who actually attacks the ball in the air! A couple of big games he has struggled in which is a slightly worrying but settled relatively well and could well be important for us. - 7
Izzaguire - Brilliant signing, gets forward like a winger but is strong and positions well in defence. His top form has slightly tailed off but a top top player - 9
Mulgrew - Slow start but has come back into things and showed a mature and resolute performance at Ibrox which will keep him in the picture - 7

Forrest - Excellent preseason saw him thrust from nowhere into starting X1 and deserved every bit of it - Another one who has struggled to get back to form after injury - 8
Juarez - Terrific start to his Celtic career - abruptly stopped after about 4 games. Struggled for form since being dropped by Lennon - 4
McGinn - After being out injured came back with a bang but has fizzled out somewhat - 5
Ki - Grabbed opportunity with Kayal and Brown out - our most consistent performer so far - didn’t have a bad game before jetting out to Qatar - hopefully he will come back on the same vein - 8
Kayal - Started very very well, injury kept him out for 3 months or so - but is back and looking an excellent signing - great on the ball and dogged off it - 9
Crosas - (very) fleeting appearances show him to still look fit sharp and a good passer of the ball. Wont be on our wage bill by August - 5
Brown - Great start - showing the much discussed 4.4 million paid for him to be money well spent - injury and suspension prevented him from building on that so far. - 7
Ledley - Seemed to be an efficient but low key performer, although when the going gets tough he stays relatively anonymous - 5
McCourt - Brilliant to watch early season, kept out due to injury, of late has shown a mature, ball retentive, hardworking and defensive minded side which has kept him in the team more consistently than when he was coming off the bench scoring wonder goals - 8
Maloney - Started well but effectiveness tailed off prior to his latest injury - 6
Ljungberg - bit part but steady start - 5

Hooper - Flying start curtailed by injury - looks to have got back to form and amongst (and creating) the goals again - 9
Stokes - Started well but toiled when played wide or on his own. Has thrived alongside Hooper since Christmas - 7
Samaras - Struggled to keep place, often used wider when he has featured. Showed some flashes of ability and drive, and gave a 90 minute showing of such at Ibrox - 6
Murphy - A physical presence but not too much else - not a goalscorer - 4
